Maybe it was the good beer I had but it was an especially good visit! We found it well rated and wanted to eat downtown. We had never been there and now recommend it highly. We shared the sampler, with fries onion rings, fried mac and cheese and fried mushroom. The sampler was great! I really liked the fried mac & cheese and the fried mushrooms. I was not very hungry so I got the chili cheese dog. The other two got burgers and liked them.
This is the spot. It is worth the hype. Being the best burger in Madison is clear. Strong contender for the best burger anywhere. It helps that service is always awesome, beer is great, inviting atmosphere, and the list goes on.
Stopped in to DDD on Friday for lunch with my girlfriend. It was her first time and I hadn’t been there in years as I moved away. The atmosphere in this restaurant is so cozy and eclectic. I felt right at home and as if I had stepped back into the 1950s, in a good way. The decor is definitely a feast for the eyes and you will always see something you didn’t the last time you came. Our beers and food were great. The only minor issue was I asked for ketchup and mayo on my burger and for ketchup and mustard. No big deal and our waitress gave me a small Cash discount for the mix-up. We will definitely be back.
Was a little tough finding street parking on a Friday in middle of December but we found a metered spot after a little looking. The decor of this restaurant along with the atmosphere were very inviting with lots of historical items from the city on the walls which I always love. Service was fast and friendly without being too much which we appreciate very much. I chose the pub burger with a side of the coleslaw and that decision was proven to be perfect. They do their coleslaw in house and definitely had the unique twist on it with finely shredded cabbage and veggies. The burger was exceptionally perfect on the juiciness factor and that garlic sauce on it absolutely enhanced the flavor beyond comprehension. We'd love to come dine here again!
Damn good burger. Lots of flavor and juicy. The fries were standard bar food. I stopped close to closing time so it was quite and they were starting to clean up. Likely a different experience earlier in the evening.
Started with the fried mushrooms, then got the turkey burger + sweet potato fries. The BEST burger anywhere hands down. I can't describe how amazing it was, you just need to try it for yourself! Also the sauces were on point. Awesome beer selection, our fave was the Spotted Cow -- crisp, refreshing and light enough to enjoy with our meal. Service was so friendly and super attentive. 20/10 experience 👌
I hadn’t been here in YEARS. It still offers the same great atmosphere and great food. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful. My grilled cheese was DELICIOUS. The chicken sandwich was also delicious. We enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend as a pre Kohl Center option or any other day!
Words cannot describe how truly good the food was here. The burgers look small but they are mighty in flavor. One of THEE best burgers of my life. Insert happy dance after one bite. This place just made the forever visit list when in town. I truly cannot rave about this place more. The decor and vibe is eclectic warm and cozy. If you know me I love visiting places with great decor. The service was great, the food was even better. Ill be havin dreams about the food here.
Great spot with no reservations. Only had to wait 5 mins for a table. Food and service was great. Tried two different beer flights but you can also make your own. We tried the classic, daddy-o and gladiator burgers all were perfectly cooked with a soft bun. We also ordered the bacon truffle fries. Must stop spot if in the area.
Awesome burger joint with unique atmosphere and charm - and a nice story about the interesting name. You could stare at the walls forever as well - super cool. It’s the got that old charm but without the crappy service or attitude you sometimes get from those places. The burgers were delicious- and you don’t feel like crap after eating one. Best cheese curds in Madison, even better beer selection!!! Our party had a melt, a bison burger, a build your own burger, and a grilled cheese. Everyone was more than happy with their selections and drinks. Service was great. Atmosphere incredible. It’s rad to see something that’s unique and old timey but modern standards. Make the quick trip here !!
